Head-on collision claims life of 2

To most people the notion of driving the wrong way down a road is ridiculous. Despite this, drivers do direct their motor vehicles on the roads heading in the wrong direction, all too frequently. While in some cases vehicles may be able to successfully navigate such a mistake, in other cases it can lead to a collision. This was the case earlier this month in a community located outside of St. Louis.

The incident occurred in the early afternoon when a vehicle driven by an 82-year-old woman began driving north in southbound lanes of a highway. As she did so, her vehicle crashed head on into a pickup truck driven by a 25-year-old man. The incident resulted in catastrophic injuries.

Following the impact the car the woman was driving caught fire. Though the young man involved in the incident survived the initial crash, he sadly succumbed to his injuries a short time later at an area hospital.

When an accident such as this one occurs on of the first things people want to know is why. There are multiple reasons why a motorist might drive his or her vehicle the wrong way down a road. While in many cases this is because the driver is impaired. In cases such as this one where the driver is older, confusion or other medical problems may be to blame. It is unknown whether she suffered from any medical conditions that might make her prone to do something like this.

The loss of a loved one is never easy to take. This is particularly true when the person who died is young, as the man in this case was. Though it is unclear whether he had a significant other or family to support, all would likely agree the man, is gone too soon. If he does have a family they might consider pursing a wrongful death lawsuit.
